This paper reports sampled assessment, moderation and external-examiner comments for matched modules. Where the assessment brief, marking criteria and identity checks were identical, performance distributions aligned. Where campus added unassessed ‘presence’, the constructs diverged and online students were not the weaker group — they were measured on different things. Brigant should keep one academic framework. Ofqual-facing quality is not a postcode. Research must keep saying so with scripts, not with a highland photograph.
