Scottish health boards cannot send every emerging manager to a year off the rota. This study evaluates Brigant health-management students working in NHS Scotland and in care organisations, studying online, with optional Edinburgh intensives. Capstones that improved a real flow, documentation or winter-pressure protocol were used. Generic leadership essays were not. Night-shift students needed asynchronous clinics. University of Brigant should keep health management distinct from clinical registration. The Edinburgh campus is a resource, not a gate that online NHS staff must pass through to be ‘real’.
