University of Brigant’s name invites heritage theatre. This chapter sets a humanities methods standard: primary sources, limits of evidence, and a refusal to invent a continuous institutional line from Iron Age Britain to a modern dual-pathway university. Students on campus and online completed the same source criticism. The point is academic identity, not a costume. Brigant should keep this critical heritage course. A university that cites ancient independence owes students history, not a brand story dressed as research.
